We are seeking a Principal Design Engineer to join the Radar Test Equipment delivery team at Leonardo in Edinburgh. You will develop hardware-based equipment for testing, from design verification through acceptance to repair, across our Radar product range.
You will work within a multidisciplinary delivery team, responsible throughout the full Engineering Lifecycle—from requirements capture to final delivery. This role offers an exciting opportunity to join a growing team, initially supporting Antenna testing, with future work likely involving other Radar system components.

What you will do:
- Design and develop hardware from requirements analysis through conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design, procurement, and manufacturing support.
- Integrate hardware with software and firmware, perform acceptance testing, and deliver solutions to customers.
- Create high-quality, robust data packs; document and control work products; and report progress to your line manager.
- Follow established processes and contribute to engineering process improvements.
- Collaborate with Software and Firmware engineers to resolve system-level integration issues.
- Depending on experience, provide technical direction, oversee project deliverables, mentor team members, review engineering estimates, and lead technical initiatives.
- Engage with customers and users to understand requirements and ensure solutions meet their needs.
