The Opportunity

We are supporting our rapidly growing project portfolio, especially within the energy transition sector, including pumped storage, offshore wind, cable route interconnectors, CCUS/hydrogen, and geothermal schemes. Due to growth in our Ground Engineering team, we are seeking a Principal Geotechnical Engineer in our North Region. You will have the opportunity to push boundaries, develop new skills, and work on high-profile projects across energy, infrastructure, and landmark buildings.

This role is based in Newcastle, Belfast, Glasgow, or preferably Edinburgh. It involves leading geotechnical analysis and design, site supervision, producing drawings, specifications, reports, and mentoring junior team members. You will also contribute to innovative research topics.

Is this role right for you?

We seek candidates with:

• A background in geotechnical analysis and design, preferably with experience in renewable energy projects.
• An MEng or equivalent Civil Engineering degree, with postgraduate qualification in geotechnics, Soil Mechanics preferred, and chartered or close to Chartered status.
• Experience managing and interpreting ground investigations in a civil engineering consultancy.
• Interest in business development and building client relationships.
