Job summary
SLR Consulting is seeking an experienced Principal Geochemist to lead their European Geochemistry team. The role focuses on mine waste, ARD/ML and mine closure, delivering technically robust, risk-based geochemical solutions for mining projects.
You will mentor geochemists, collaborate across disciplines, and shape methodologies while supporting business development and client relationships across the growing mining portfolio.
Qualifications
- Bachelor/Master's in geochemistry or closely related field.
- PhD is advantageous but not required for consideration.
- Extensive mining geochemistry experience, including ARD/ML and long-term predictive modelling.
Responsibilities
- Lead technical delivery of geochemistry studies across the mining lifecycle.
- Design and oversee sample selection and testing programmes (static, kinetic, leach, mineralogical).
- Interpret complex geochemical datasets and assess ARD/ML, salinity and water quality risks.
- Develop geochemical management strategies for waste rock, tailings and stockpiles.
- Develop and review geochemical source terms and water quality predictions for mine water management.
- Oversee PHREEQC modelling and provide senior technical direction for closure studies.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to proposals, planning and client relationships.
