Job description

MCS Group are thrilled to be partnered with a well-funded insurtech scale-up that has recently closed a major funding round and is entering an exciting new growth phase. Founded over a decade ago, the company has grown from its early product innovation roots into a recognised player in the employee benefits space, providing dental, vision, and complementary insurance products to small and medium-sized businesses across the US.

Over the past 18 months, they've built out a new leadership team with deep expertise across insurance and technology, strengthened their partnerships with leading HR and benefits platforms, and sharpened their strategy to become the platform of choice for insurers.

At the centre of this growth is a modern, AI-enabled platform that powers underwriting, claims, and customer experience - designed for scale, compliance, and innovation.

Role Overview

As part of international expansion, the company is establishing a new engineering hub in Northern Ireland. This is a rare opportunity to join at the ground floor of a strategic build-out, contributing directly to core product engineering (not legacy or back-office work) and helping shape the hub's growth and culture.

You'll work on AI-driven product features, collaborate with senior engineers in the US, and help represent the company in NI's growing tech ecosystem. The first hires will travel to the US for in-depth onboarding (6+ weeks) to work side by side with experienced engineers and immerse themselves in the product.

What you'll do
  • Deliver new features across the company's core platform.
  • Contribute to AI/GenAI innovation - experimenting with and building new solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering colleagues in the US.
  • Represent the brand in NI and help shape the new engineering hub.
  • Operate with autonomy and impact from day one.
What you'll bring
  • Strong full-stack engineering background - ideally React, Ruby, and Python (but open to engineers from Java, .NET or similar who can cross-train).
  • AI/ML curiosity - experience with Generative AI or willingness to experiment with emerging tools.
  • Cloud-native mindset - AWS experience valued; Terraform, Kubernetes, DevOps exposure a plus.
  • Awareness of working in regulated or compliance-heavy domains (insurance/fintech a bonus).
Why join?
  • Highly competitive Salary: (senior or principal level, depending on experience).
  • Be part of a post-funding, high-growth scale-up with real market traction.
  • Work on core platform engineering with visibility and impact from day one.
  • Help establish and shape a brand-new NI hub.
  • Travel to the US for onboarding and work with a highly skilled team.

A chance to join a growing insurtech disruptor at a pivotal moment, working on AI-driven innovation and scaling a platform that's set to transform a $100B+ market
