Job summary

Syngenta Crop Protection seeks an onsite Principal Formulation Scientist at Jealott's Hill, UK, to lead project plans and shape formulation technology strategy within a collaborative team.

The role requires PhD or equivalent industrial experience in formulation science, strong English, and hands-on lab expertise with safe, independent work. The candidate will drive IP generation and technical direction in agrochemical formulation.

Qualifications

• First degree in Chemistry or related scientific discipline.
• A strong colloid or physical organic chemist with a PhD or relevant industrial experience in formulation science.
• Fluent in English, written and verbal.
• Basic knowledge of project management.
• Hands-on laboratory experience with proven safety, independence and efficiency.
• Basic knowledge of data science to support experiment design and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Define project plans and deliver a portfolio of formulation projects.
• Influence technical direction within the site's formulation community.
• Identify opportunities to generate IP in own projects.
• Support development and implementation of science & technology strategy at the site.
• Develop extensive technical knowledge and Agrochemical industry knowledge to advance Global Formulation.

Accountabilities:

• Independently defines project plans and delivers a portfolio of projects.
• Influences the technical direction of other's projects within the site’s formulation community.
• Actively identifies and explores opportunities to generate broad IP in own projects.
• Supports and influences the development and implementation of science & technology strategy at site or department in areas of expertise.
• Develops extensive technical knowledge in a technology area, and builds Agrochemical industry knowledge to advance the capability of Global Formulation.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• First degree in Chemistry or broadly related scientific discipline
• A strong colloid or physical organic chemist with a PhD or relevant industrial experience in formulation science
• Fluent in English, written and verbal
• Basic knowledge of project management
• Hands-on experience of working in laboratory with proven track record of working safely, independently and efficiently
• Basic knowledge of data science with skills to support experiment design and data analysis

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience developing new technologies and deploying them into commercial applicationand/or
• Experience in developing formulations within an industrial setting, with an understanding of the compromises required when developing new products

Jealott's Hill International Research Centre UK is situated in pleasant semi-rural surroundings between Bracknell and Maidenhead and is the place of work for approximately 800 Syngenta scientists and support staff. Jealott’s Hill is one of the main global research and development sites and key activities include research into discovery of new active ingredients, new formulation technologies, product safety and technical support of our product range.
