Job Description:

We are currently working with one of Europe's leading engineering and architecture consultancies to add a Principal Flood Risk Modeller to their London Energy, Water and Environment division, within the Flooding and Water Management Team.

This role offers flexible working with a minimum of 3 days in the office per week and flexible start and finish times.

As part of the Water Environment Department, you'll promote sustainable water resource management, help protect water environments, and make communities safer and more resilient to flood risk and climate change. The consultancy will support your technical development to become a Difference Maker, developing sustainable and innovative solutions.

You will work on flood risk assessments, EIAs, flood risk management, and alleviation schemes across the UK for both public and private sector projects.

As a Principal Flood Risk Modeller, you'll provide technical leadership to modellers, oversee the quality of flood risk modelling deliverables, and influence project approaches and decision-making related to flood risk mitigation.

Your project management experience will determine whether you lead projects or work closely with project managers to coordinate resources, manage contracts, clients, and ensure quality, schedule, and budget adherence. You will also mentor team members, providing technical guidance and supervising their work.

To succeed, you should:

  • Have extensive experience in hydraulic modelling for various projects.
  • Possess a solid understanding of UK hydrology and open channel hydraulics.
  • Be familiar with hydraulic modelling software such as Innovyze ICM, Flood Modeller Pro, TUFLOW, HEC-RAS, or SRH2D.
  • Be capable of leading and managing projects within defined deliverables, milestones, and quality standards.
  • Understand economic appraisals (e.g., MCM, B£ST).
  • Have experience in option development and schematic design.
  • Possess soft skills for successful public and statutory consultations.
  • Knowledge of Flood Risk Assessment, Natural Flood Management, and Sustainable Drainage techniques is desirable.
  • Hold chartered status (C.Eng or C.WEM).
  • Have an MSc/MEng or PhD in hydrology, hydraulic modelling, water resources, or related environmental sciences.

Company benefits include flexible working policies, paid professional subscriptions, a bonus scheme, car allowance, employee assistance program, electric vehicle salary sacrifice scheme, 7% employer pension contribution (plus 2% employee), a benefits portal, and more.

This is a unique opportunity. If your experience aligns, please apply or contact Jamie Will at Calibre Search.
