Penguin Recruitment is supporting a leading consultancy in Manchester to appoint a Principal Flood Risk & Hydrology Consultant. You will provide technical leadership across flood risk, hydrology and hydraulic modelling while actively delivering projects and managing clients.

The role requires chartered status or progress toward Chartership, with proven modelling expertise and senior-level communication skills. Salary £60,000-£70,000 plus flexible working and strong benefits.

The Opportunity

A leading multidisciplinary consultancy is looking for a Principal Flood Risk & Hydrology Consultant to join its established water team. You will provide technical leadership across flood risk, hydrology and hydraulic modelling while remaining closely involved in project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead flood risk, hydrology and hydraulic modelling work
• Review complex hydraulic models and Flood Risk Assessments
• Provide technical advice across infrastructure and development projects
• Support climate adaptation and water environment assessments
• Manage project delivery and client relationships
• Work with multidisciplinary design and environmental teams
• Mentor junior and mid-level consultants and modellers
• Support proposals, work winning and development of the technical service

Candidate Requirements

• Strong consultancy experience in flood risk and hydrology
• Chartered professional status or working towards Chartership
• Advanced hydraulic modelling and technical review capability
• Experience delivering complex Flood Risk Assessments and hydrological studies
• Strong client-facing and project management skills
• Experience mentoring and developing technical staff
