Job description

My client, a well-respected, diverse Multidisciplinary Consultancy, is currently seeking a Principal Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant to join their team of expert engineers in Manchester.

Essential Criteria:
  1. A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Geography, Environmental Management, or a similar discipline.
  2. Extensive experience in drainage, flood risk, and flood mitigation, including design guidance aligned with industry standards.
  3. Proven project management experience.
  4. Experience liaising with public and private sector clients, with strong commercial awareness.
  5. Good knowledge of software such as MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage, AutoCAD, QGIS, and other GIS software.
Desirable Skills:
  1. Chartership with a Professional Body or working towards Chartered Status.
  2. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  3. Strong prioritization and time management abilities.
Role Responsibilities:
  1. Managing projects from inception to completion.
  2. Preparing fee proposals and tenders, utilizing technical and commercial expertise.
  3. Producing Flood Risk Assessments, Flood Scoping Reports, and Drainage Strategies.
  4. Leading conceptual drainage design incorporating SuDS techniques and producing drainage plans.
  5. Reviewing reports, calculations, and drawings.
  6. Completing Flood Risk Appraisals with practical risk mitigation advice.
  7. Line managing colleagues and supporting their professional development.
