Job description

My client, a large, accomplished Multidisciplinary Consultancy, is currently seeking a Principal Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant to join their team of expert engineers based in Leeds.

Essential Criteria:
  1. A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Geography or a related discipline (or equivalent relevant experience)
  2. Extensive experience in flood risk and drainage, including familiarity with design guidance, laws, and regulations
  3. Proven project management experience
  4. Experience liaising with clients across the sector and strong commercial awareness
  5. Good knowledge of software such as MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage, AutoCAD, QGIS, etc.
Desirable Qualifications:
  1. Chartered Membership of a Professional Body (or actively working towards Chartered Status)
  2. Excellent communication skills for liaising with colleagues and stakeholders
  3. Strong prioritization and time management skills
Role Responsibilities:
  1. Managing all project phases from inception to completion
  2. Preparing tenders and fee proposals, utilizing technical and commercial expertise
  3. Overseeing Flood Risk Assessments, Flood Scoping Reports, and Drainage Strategies
  4. Collaborating on conceptual drainage designs, including SuDS techniques, and producing drainage plans
  5. Reviewing reports, calculations, and drawings
  6. Conducting Flood Risk Appraisals, providing practical risk mitigation, recommendations, and commercial advice
  7. Line managing a team and mentoring colleagues' professional development
