Job description

Raytheon UK is seeking an experienced Principal Firmware / Digital Engineering Lead to join the Power Products team within the Systems & Products department.

The role involves architecting control solutions for Power Products, overseeing technical integration, and making a significant impact on diverse Power Product developments.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assess customer requirements and derive FPGA/Firmware specifications for complex systems.
  2. Design and develop Power Products, collaborating with hardware engineers from concept to production.
  3. Model and simulate control functions for verification and validation.
  4. Develop model-based design processes and tools for rapid controller deployment.
  5. Ensure designs meet industry standards like RTCA D0-254.
  6. Engage with academia and industry experts.
  7. Design and verify FPGA using VHDL, with practical experience in Xilinx, Altera, or Actel technologies.
  8. Debug, test firmware, and support system integration.
  9. Understand circuit operation, troubleshoot, and implement fixes.
  10. Apply problem-solving skills, take ownership, and contribute to cross-disciplinary teams.
  11. Utilize simulation tools like Matlab Simulink or Spice and engage in system modeling.
  12. Provide technical leadership on development projects.
  13. Interpret customer specifications and manage requirements throughout product development.
  14. Communicate effectively across all levels and travel as needed within the UK, Europe, and the US.
  15. Hold or be eligible for SC security clearance.

Desired Skills:

  1. Experience with Mentor Graphics tool suite or equivalents.
  2. Skills in circuit simulation and thermal analysis.
  3. Design experience with inverter and power factor correction power supplies.
  4. Familiarity with industry-standard tools like DOORs.
