Principal Fire Engineer Job in Manchester, Cheshire

Join an established fire consultancy as a Principal Fire Engineer in Manchester. Work through all stages of complex fire engineering projects in a role offering a salary of £65,000 - £90,000, plus bonus, 27 days holiday, bank holidays, hybrid working, healthcare, and ongoing professional development.

This consultancy provides strategic advice, innovative design, construction oversight, and risk management to clients across the UK and globally. With nearly 15 years of experience, they are an award-winning firm collaborating with councils, architects, and design teams to prioritize safety in diverse sectors including commercial, residential, education, transport, healthcare, hospitality, and nuclear.

Role & Responsibilities

• Report to the Associate Fire Engineer / Associate Director
• Manage technical aspects of large projects or project components
• Support and mentor Fire Engineers
• Deliver fire consultancy, designer services, and fire strategies
• Handle internal and external enquiries
• Develop client relationships and identify new business opportunities
• Lead fire engineering teams to deliver multiple projects
• Participate in design team meetings
• Support business strategy and digital innovations
• Prepare reports, designs, calculations, and specifications
• Manage projects from start to finish, including financials and quality management
• Maintain client communication throughout project lifecycle

Required Skills & Experience

• Engineering Council Accredited BEng Hons, MEng, or MSc
• Chartered status (CEng / IEng) or working towards it
• MIFIREE membership or working towards it
• At least 7+ years' experience in fire engineering
• Extensive UK project experience in fire-engineered solutions
• Knowledge of active/passive fire protection systems
• Understanding of UK legislation and design guidance (or similar from New Zealand/Australia)
• Ability to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines
• UK Driving Licence and own vehicle
