Principal Finance Officer needed in Chichester Paying £24.51 per hr ref 1532710

Full-time hours on a temporary basis

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Principal Finance Officer to join our finance team. This is a pivotal role with significant responsibility for leading key financial processes and ensuring the integrity of financial reporting across the organisation.

You will be the lead officer for the Fixed Asset Register, Fixed Asset Revaluation Programme, and IFRS 16 compliance within the financial statements. You will also take ownership of the SAP Control Environment, including the maintenance of the General Ledger, and provide expert support to External Audit and the production of the Whole of Government Accounts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the council’s Fixed Asset Register and Revaluation Programme.
  • Manage the implementation and reporting of IFRS 16.
  • Oversee the SAP Control Environment, ensuring accurate maintenance of the General Ledger.
  • Act as the key liaison for External Audit, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
  • Lead the preparation and submission of the Whole of Government Accounts.
  • Provide strategic financial advice to service managers and senior stakeholders.
  • Contribute to long-term financial planning and budget setting.
  • Interpret and implement financial legislation and policy changes.
  • Line manage and develop a team of finance professionals.
  • Support major projects with financial analysis and business case development.
