Job description

Principal - Evidence Synthesis and/or Statistics

Location - London or Winchester with hybrid working in line with departmental in-office requirements (Tuesday is a regular in-office team day, currently a minimum 40% in office requirement)

In 2020 LCP launched our Heath Analytics practice, providing analytical and research services for organisations across the life sciences and healthcare industries. Our team brings together clinicians, statisticians, epidemiologists, health economists, bioinformaticians, health data scientists and market access specialists alongside our established actuarial, analytics and technology teams to deliver new solutions for the fundamental challenges in health.

Our team's mission is to help move health systems from importers of illness to exporters of health and to support our clients to deliver value to patients. We have already developed a track record for leading approaches to real world evidence generation, health economic modelling of the broader value of health interventions and innovative approaches to incorporate consideration of health equity in the assessment of medicines and technologies.

Our team has grown quickly in response to the demand we are seeing for the innovative service offerings we have developed and have four internal service areas - Real World Evidence Generation, Global Market Access, Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR) and US Access Solutions, and are now recruiting for a Principal to join the HEOR service area leadership team with proven expertise in Evidence Synthesis and lead our literature review and/or statistics offerings.

You will bring deep subject matter expertise in HEOR alongside excellent people leadership and client engagement skills. This is a senior role within the department, with opportunities to shape the HEOR team's service offerings. In this role you will be responsible for providing scientific input on HEOR and HTA projects. Examples of the types of projects that you will be leading include:
  • Design and delivery of systematic literature reviews across clinical, economic and epidemiological outcomes
  • Feasibility assessment and execution of evidence synthesis methods, including pairwise and network meta-analysis, meta-regression, and population-adjusted indirect comparisons (e.g. MAIC, STC)
  • Design and conduct of surrogate endpoint validation analyses to support trial design and access
  • Statistical analysis of clinical trial data (e.g., survival analysis, utility analysis, HCRU analysis), including exploratory and post hoc analyses to inform HTA and payer strategies
  • Development and implementation of external control arms using real-world or clinical trial data to enhance comparative effectiveness evaluations
  • Developing cutting edge methods to help drive the acceptance of non-traditional evidence by HTA agencies, for example by using generative AI, advanced analytics and/or modelling
What will you be doing?

As a Principal in LCP's Health Analytics department your key responsibilities will be to:

Deliver excellent client service in existing service areas
  • Lead on the delivery of client projects including being the primary contact for client management and accountable for efficient project delivery. While projects will primarily align with your area of expertise, we expect you demonstrate agility in supporting less familiar project types where required
  • Manage project teams including coordination of study design and protocol development where appropriate. We expect most projects would be for clients in the pharmaceutical sectors and many projects that you will lead will be working across service area groupings/teams
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert on HEOR projects and engagements within your areas of expertise, supporting team members with both technical and consulting issues
Drive the business forward with new services, thought leadership and proposals
  • Support growing the existing analytics offering into new markets and extending the capabilities of the current Health Analytics' offering according to your expertise and track record
  • Contribute to ongoing work in developing LCP's Health Analytics sector presence through thought leadership
  • A particular focus of this role will be to contribute to LCP Health Analytics increasing thought leadership work to position LCP as unique thought partners to support our commercial growth through working both with pharmaceutical clients alongside key stakeholders such as HTA bodies
  • Generate new opportunities through upselling and cross-selling on existing clients/prospects through projects you lead, or through responding to requests for proposals (RFPs)
Culture and People Development
  • Line manager for team members
  • Be a member of the HEOR service area leadership team, with shared responsibilities for business development, resourcing, and team training and development
What experience, skills, and qualities are we looking for?
  • Significant and demonstrable experience in life sciences consulting
  • A track record of leading teams in delivering innovative work in a fast-paced environment
  • A 2:1 degree or better in a numerate or science subject, with a relevant PhD degree (e.g. Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Health Economics) being desirable
  • Proven expertise in evidence synthesis is essential, encompassing literature reviews and/or statistical methodologies (this should include experience designing and delivering robust syntheses to inform HTA and payer decision-making, with the ability to select and justify appropriate methods-ranging from standard approaches to more advanced or bespoke analyses as needed)
  • An excellent track record in successful business development through repeat work, with experience developing proposals for new clients/projects desirable
  • You should be committed to providing excellent service to our clients and have experience in leading consulting engagements
  • Drive to be part of a small, dynamic, and growing team
  • Comfortable leading on day-to-day project activities and managing the workload of other team members
  • Initiative in every aspect of your work and creativity in developing original solutions to problems
  • Excellent communication skills and good presentation skills with the ability to explain complex issues to others
  • You will be able to manage your work and coordinate the work of multi-disciplinary teams as the role will require regular multi-tasking across client projects and the development and coordination of team members
  • Familiarity with real world health data sources
  • Experience of programming (e.g. R, Python) is desirable
  • A commitment to delivering the highest quality of work to clients to agreed deadlines which may involve some extra hours from time to time
