Job summary

A leading contractor in the Infrastructure sector is seeking a Principal Estimator to lead a team in London. This remote or hybrid opportunity involves producing compliant tender documentation, managing risks, and collaborating with various stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in estimating for the rail sector and hold an engineering-related qualification at HNC level.

Job description

Principal Estimator required to join a busy & growing contractor within Infrastructure.

As a Principal Estimator, you will lead a team of Estimators within the wider commercial team, which includes Cost Managers, Commercial Managers, and other professionals.

Roles & Duties:

1. Producing tender documentation that complies with applicable legislation and industry standards on health, safety, quality, and environment.
2. Leading on tenders.
3. Analyzing quotations to ensure pricing reflects project requirements, researching alternative designs, materials, and methods.
4. Managing tender risk and opportunity schedules, attending bid and tender reviews, and adjudication.

The ideal candidate:

1. Previous experience in the rail sector.
2. Knowledge, ability, and experience in Estimating/Cost and Commercial competencies as required by relevant professional institutions.
3. Ability to challenge when needed.
4. Working knowledge/experience of NEC Contracts, other industry-standard contract forms, and/or bespoke contracts.
5. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
6. Hold a construction or engineering-related qualification at minimum HNC level.
