Gleeds Energy is looking to bring on an experienced Principal Estimator to work within our commercial estimating function serving the nuclear and defence sectors. As a Principal Estimator, you will lead a team and oversee estimating activities.

About The Role
  • Position: Principal Estimator, Executive - Associate Director level
  • Location: UK wide with visits to London weekly or biweekly (Mixture of home, office and client sites)
  • Type: Permanent, full-time with flexible working and core hours

We are seeking a Principal Estimator to lead estimation efforts for projects in the nuclear and defence sectors, managing a team and contributing to strategic bidding processes.

Your responsibilities in this role will include:
  • Calculate total project costs and provide detailed breakdowns
  • Develop tender strategies with the bid team and compile estimates for formal bids
  • Review, approve, and document estimates or present as needed
  • Manage and develop a team of estimators of varying levels
  • Provide expert guidance in estimating processes and mentor the estimating community
  • Understand other project controls such as planning, earned value, progress management, and change control, pre and post contract

About You

Who we're looking for:

  • Relevant experience in Estimating/Cost Management, preferably in Nuclear, Civil Engineering, or related sectors
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Methodical approach, organizational skills, adaptability, problem-solving, negotiation, and numeracy skills
  • HNC, HND, Degree in Cost Management, Construction Law, Engineering, or similar; alternative backgrounds considered
  • Professional memberships such as RICS, CIOB, CICES, CIPS are desirable and supported if not already attained
