Job summary

The Government Recruitment Service is seeking a Principal Enterprise Architect in Newcastle upon Tyne to lead the development and governance of enterprise architecture, aligning technology with organisational strategy and digital transformation.

You will provide architectural leadership across platforms and teams, ensuring design integrity and long-term resilience in a permanent, full-time role with flexible working options.

Responsibilities

• own and maintain the enterprise-wide architecture design framework across business, application, data and technology domains
• maintain architecture standards and design principles, ensuring that solutions comply with frameworks such as TOGAF and align with the UK government's Technology Code of Practice
• operate architecture governance processes, including design review boards and enterprise assurance
• translate organisational strategy into technology and architecture roadmaps
• oversee cloud and platform architecture
• define architecture lifecycle processes from concept through design, implementation and retirement, and provide independent design assurance for complex programmes and digital services
• provide architectural leadership across multidisciplinary teams and support senior leaders with technology strategy discussions and decision-making
