Principal Engineering Manager - Aldermaston, Berkshire, RG7 4PR

Job Type: Full-Time

Salary: £64,340 - £80,000 per annum + holiday, pension, life insurance

Location: RG7 4PR, between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking

Package: £64,340 - £80,000 (depending on suitability, qualifications, and experience)

About the Role

AWE is embarking on a Replacement Nuclear Warhead programme to ensure the UK's continuous at-sea deterrent. This is a unique opportunity to be part of an important mission. The role involves leading maintenance and reliability teams across multiple projects and technology centres. The successful candidate will inspire engineering excellence and foster collaborative relationships.

The Principal Engineering Manager will oversee teams of engineers, ensuring the delivery of maintenance and engineering services to maximize plant and facility availability. This involves stakeholder engagement, governance, management, and compliance with relevant regulations, legislations, and codes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead effective stakeholder management to influence decisions and program delivery.
  • Lead multi-discipline teams through the engineering lifecycle.
  • Communicate technical complexities to diverse stakeholders.
  • Ensure engineering capabilities in manufacturing and research environments.
  • Apply applicable legislation and standards related to safety in engineering.
  • Maintain high standards in environment, safety, health, security, and quality.
Candidate Requirements
  • Degree qualification in an engineering discipline; Chartered status preferred or proven relevant experience.
  • Proven experience leading engineering teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal, engagement, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work calmly in a changing environment and manage workload effectively.
  • Initiative, enthusiasm, flexibility, and ability to meet tight deadlines.
