Job summary

Amey is recruiting for a Principal Engineering Manager – Signalling Rail in York. The role is permanent, full‑time, 37.5 hours per week with hybrid working.

You will be nominated to NR as Contractor’s Engineering Manager and oversee signalling engineering activities across projects in the Eastern region. You will manage the Project Engineering/CRE teams, drive contracts and projects towards growth and efficient staff utilisation, and engage with Network Rail on technical requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering signalling within multi‑discipline rail projects.
• Strong understanding of NR standards and design delivery.
• Knowledge of statutory railway requirements such as CSM-RA, CDM2015, ROGS, RiR.
• Familiarity with NR/L2/INI/02009 engineering management standard.
• IRSE licence category or working towards it.

• Responsible for Engineering Assurance, Quality Management and technical delivery of signalling.
• Develop, maintain and own client relationships for long‑term partnerships.
• Manage and administer all engineering deliverables on the project.

• Provide regular design status reports to the Project lead.

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Principal Engineering Manager – Signalling Rail to join our dynamic Eastern and southern team at York. 37.5 hrs per week, hybrid working. In this role, you will be nominated to NR as Contractor’s Engineering Manager and will have overall accountability for signalling engineering activities. The role will include to manage and develop the Project Engineering / CRE teams within Rail signalling, supporting contracts and projects across Amey Rail, to achieve targets and project objectives in respect of growth and staff utilisation. This role offers you the unique opportunity to work with one of NR main contractors on Signalling and OLE frameworks across the Eastern region.

What You’ll Do

• Ensure compliance with statutory, contractual, legal and special requirements.
• Responsible for Engineering Assurance, Quality Management and technical delivery of signalling within delivery of schemes.
• Have an understanding of delivering new signalling technologies onto the Network.
• Develop, maintain and own client relationships in order to promote long‑term partnerships.
• Embrace and control compliance with Company procedures, policies and delivery plans.
• Manage and administer all engineering deliverables on the Project;
• Undertake Client Liaison activities to support Network Rail’s Technical Requirements;
• Management of design delivery and provision of regular design status reports to the Project lead;
• Site engineering controls are planned and delivered to facilitate construction.
• Ensure signatories are in place for all required documentation to support project delivery.

What You’ll Bring

• Experience delivering signalling within Multi‑discipline Rail Projects;
• Proven experience and understanding of industry engineering management standard NR/L2/INI/02009;
• Thorough knowledge of railway engineering and operations;
• Knowledge of statutory railway requirements such as CSM-RA, CDM2015, ROGS, RiR etc;
• Hold or be working towards IRSE licence category, Engineering or Senior Engineering Manager
