Job summary

WSP is seeking a Principal or Associate Engineer to join the UK Water team in Birmingham. You will support project delivery, supervise tasks and review deliverables, and develop the urban drainage modelling capability, keeping us at the forefront of the discipline.

You will mentor junior engineers, provide technical input on wastewater projects, manage client relationships, participate in business development and help shape our future approaches to delivery and efficiency within a dynamic,

Qualifications

• A degree and chartered or progressing on the path with ICE, IEI, IoW or CIWEM.
• Experience in wastewater hydraulic modelling (InfoWorks ICM) and ability to check outputs.
• Knowledge of Water Industry Specifications, Hydraulic Modelling of Urban Drainage Systems, and relevant British Standards.
• Excellent presentation, written and verbal English communication.

Responsibilities

• Support the team leads in managing project delivery, including supervision of tasks and review of deliverables.
• Develop the urban drainage modelling capability within the team and mentor junior members.
• Support the team lead in managing the work of the local technical delivery team.
• Provide technical input on urban drainage projects and wastewater projects, influencing delivery approaches.
• Develop and maintain client relationships, coordinating project meetings with clients.
• Participate in business development and proposal preparation.
• Promote the WSP brand in industry forums and conferences.
• Share knowledge to develop the wider team.

• We are looking for a Principal or Associate Engineer to support the team leads in managing project delivery, including supervision of tasks and review of deliverables
• You will develop the urban drainage modelling capability in the team, ensuring we are at the forefront of latest developments in the discipline, and provide training and development support to more junior members of the team
• You will support the team lead in managing the work of the local technical delivery team
• Provide technical input on urban drainage projects and support our wastewater team in delivering current and future projects and help influence our future approaches to efficient delivery
• The role will enable you to further develop and use your technical skills, applying your expertise to help us continue driving forward in terms of both technical quality and service efficiency
• You will exercise independent engineering judgement and have opportunities to provide innovative solutions to engineering problems. You will be a proactive and collaborative team member
• You will develop and maintain excellent client relationships at all levels, coordinating and facilitating project meetings internally and with clients
• Participate in business development and proposal preparation
• Promote the WSP brand through appropriate industry forums and conferences
• You will contribute to the learning of the wider team through knowledge sharing exercises

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…

• A relevant degree and chartered, or significantly progressed on your journey in pursuing qualification with ICE, IEI, IoW or CIWEM
• Able to demonstrate clear and successful experience of wastewater hydraulic modelling (InfoWorks ICM) and an ability to check the technical outputs of others prior to issue
• A good working knowledge of Water Industry Specifications, Code of Practice for the Hydraulic Modelling of Urban Drainage Systems and relevant British Standards
• Good presentation, written and verbal communication skills in English
