Principal Tunnelling Engineer – United Kingdom

With accelerating infrastructure investment worldwide, AECOM provides a full range of tunnelling and underground structure design and management services delivering support across public and private sectors. We are looking for a Principal Tunnelling Engineer to lead design and technical delivery on major civil infrastructure/tunnelling projects across the UK and abroad.

Although advertised as a full time role, part time options will also be considered.

Here’s what you’ll do:
  • Deliver: Act as a Design Lead for elements of a project, liaising directly with clients and the wider design team for the day to day design development but being guided by a Technical Lead / mentor
  • Provide Expertise: Manage more junior engineers in the design of infrastructure elements
  • Deliver: Provide input to the develop
Qualified candidates will...
  • Be educated to degree level in Civil or Civil & Structural Engineering, and/or have MSc/MEng in Soil Mechanics/Geotechnical/Tunnelling Engineering, with/working towards a professional membership
  • Have broad experience as a designer in Reinforced Concrete to Eurocodes in relation to underground structures such as secant piles, capping beams, segmental shaft linings, in situ concrete structural elements, D-Walls, shafts and tunnels
  • A Civil or Structural Engineer with good familiarity of Geotechnical Engineering principles as they apply to soil-structure interaction
