Bath & North East Somerset Council is seeking a Principal Traffic Management Engineer to lead a high-performing team. The role involves managing traffic schemes, addressing public queries, and ensuring project delivery on time and budget. This position offers flexibility with blended working arrangements.

We are seeking a Principal Traffic Management Engineer to lead, motivate, and support our high-performing Traffic Management Team. The team designs and delivers an annual programme of schemes such as Traffic Regulation Orders, pedestrian crossings, traffic calming measures and bus stop improvements, as well as dealing with traffic-related queries from the public and councillors. The team is also responsible for Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders.
As well as the local outcomes you will help to shape, we are part of the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority, which has secured significant transport funding for investment in public transport, walking, wheeling, and cycling improvements over the next five years. You will have a part to play in ensuring that these projects are delivered on time and within budget, as well as ensuring that our services deliver on our commitment to “Improve People’s Lives”.
This role offers the flexibility of blended working, with time split between home and our award-winning Civic Centre in Keynsham, conveniently located between Bath and Bristol. Hot desking options are also available at the Guildhall in Bath.
