About the Role

We are seeking a Principal Traffic Management Engineer to lead, motivate, and support our high-performing Traffic Management Team. The team designs and delivers an annual programme of schemes such as Traffic Regulation Orders, pedestrian crossings, traffic calming measures and bus stop improvements, as well as dealing with traffic-related queries from the public and councillors. The team is also responsible for Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders.

What We Are Looking For

• Experience: Excellent knowledge and experience of leading and managing technical staff within a traffic management, transport, or highways environment. A good understanding of Traffic Regulation Orders would be beneficial.
• Knowledge: A strong understanding of the national policy context and regulatory environment, and a good awareness of the traffic and transport challenges faced by the Council.
• Skills: Excellent resource management and problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to team and individual development.
• Innovation: Ability to challenge the status quo and drive continuous improvement within the Traffic Management Team.
