Job summary

Ceto Talent is seeking an experienced Principal Temporary Works Engineer in Warrington with a hybrid working arrangement. You will provide technical leadership across major UK gas transmission, pipeline, AGI, power and energy projects and act as the organisation's subject matter expert for temporary works.

You will mentor the existing team, govern design and construction phases, and drive in-house capability for complex temporary works solutions.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer (CEng) preferred with BS 5975 knowledge.
• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited program.
• Experience leading or supporting multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, design review and approval of all temporary works.
• Act as Temporary Works Design Authority and senior technical advisor.
• Ensure compliance with BS 5975 and company procedures.
• Develop and maintain temporary works standards, specs and guidance.
• Review complex calculations and drawings; provide project planning support.
• Mentor graduate and junior engineers; support incident investigations.

We re recruiting an experienced Principal Temporary Works Engineer to provide technical leadership across major UK gas transmission, pipeline, AGI, power and energy infrastructure projects.

This is a senior technical position created to strengthen the company s internal temporary works capability and reduce its reliance on external design consultants. You will provide technical leadership and governance for temporary works across a growing portfolio.

You will act as the organisation s subject matter expert for temporary works, supporting projects from tender and temporary works design through to construction. You will also mentor the existing temporary works team and enable more complex designs to be completed in-house.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, design review and approval of all temporary works.
• Act as the Temporary Works Design Authority and senior technical advisor.
• Ensure compliance with BS 5975 and company procedures.
• Develop and maintain temporary works standards, specifications and guidance.
• Review complex engineering calculations and drawings.
• Provide technical support during project planning and construction.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers and Design Teams to identify temporary works requirements early.
• Manage technical risks and ensure appropriate mitigation measures are implemented.
• Mentor graduate and junior engineers.
• Support incident investigations and implement lessons learned.
• Liaise with external designers, consultants and contractors.
• Support bid submissions by providing technical input and innovative construction methodologies.

Experience Required

• Chartered Engineer (CEng).
• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Extensive experience in temporary works design and management.
• Strong knowledge of BS 5975 and its application to temporary works.
• Strong knowledge of Eurocodes and other BSI standards.
• Experience reviewing and approving complex engineering calculations and drawings.
• Experience leading or supporting multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Strong understanding of engineering governance, technical assurance and construction risk.
• Experience within hydrocarbon facilities would be preferable.
• Previous experience mentoring junior engineers would be beneficial.
