Job description

Skanska Technology Limited (STL) is an expanding in-house engineering design consultancy supporting projects across the Buildings, Civils (Temporary works), water, heavy industrial, power, and design and build sectors. Based in our Head Office in Leavesden, Hertfordshire, you'll join a flexible team and work across multiple sectors to support exciting projects.

Join our growing STL design team as a Principal Engineer and contribute to the delivery of innovative engineering solutions. You’ll be responsible for the technical delivery of a portfolio of small projects or of a larger project in the Buildings team, reporting to a Senior Project Engineer.

What you'll do:

  • Sound approach to the application of engineering practice and enabling exploitation of new and advancing technology and continuous improvement.
  • Preparation of outline & detailed design in accordance with the relevant design standards.
  • Preparation of clear and well-structured design calculations, reports, drawings and other deliverables.
  • Experience of BIM led design, and ability to use common structural design software tools such as Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis, SCIA Engineer or STAAD Pro.
  • Manage the planning, direction and control of tasks, people and resources to deliver successful projects to agreed time and cost expectations.
  • Prepare and control project budgets and have a high level of commercial and contractual understanding.
  • Brief and coordinate the work of others to ensure the timely and technically robust delivery of project scope.
  • Managing, building and developing excellent customer relationships.

What you'll bring to the role:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or a relevant qualification.
  • Good working knowledge, understanding and experience of the applicable Eurocodes, UK Industry Codes of Practice and ability to mentor others in their application
  • Willingness to attend site visits and work on buildable solutions.
  • UK/EEC driving licence.
  • Chartered membership of an appropriate Professional body.
