Principal Engineer – Permanent – Electrical / Software / Controls – Staffordshire – £60-70k + hybrid working + bonus + 30 days annual leave + BUPA

Ambitious, growing company is recruiting for a Degree qualified Principal Engineer with experience of managing multi-disciplinary teams to work in the defence sector.

Principal Engineer role could suit a Senior Engineer with experience of leading a small team who is ready to take the next step up into a bigger role.

Key aspects of the Principal Engineer role include –

  1. Take charge of and lead project teams delivering electrical control systems, industrial software, and electrical safety systems to customers in the defence sector.
  2. Have first-class stakeholder engagement and management skills.
  3. Initiate, oversee, and lead all engineering activities on a project or group of projects.
  4. Knowledge of working to ISO 9001 standards is key.
  5. Oversee the activities of the team and help overcome problems by providing guidance.
  6. A Principal Engineer working towards Chartered status will be supported and mentored.
  7. You’ll need to be a British passport holder and have lived in the UK for at least the last 5 years, as you’ll be put through security clearance if you haven’t already got it.
  8. You’ll need to be comfortable working in the defence sector.
  9. The management team encourages a sensible work-life balance, with leave by 4.30 pm daily, 30 days holiday per year, plus statutory bank holidays.
  10. Role will initially be based from the Stafford office (3 days per week) and home (2 days per week) with occasional trips to customer sites.
  11. Up to 10% bonus.
  12. 30 days holiday plus statutory days.
  13. Private healthcare – includes family members after 6 months of service.
  14. Work from home two days a week (Mondays and Fridays).

The client’s offices are easily accessible from Stoke, Stafford, Cannock, Lichfield, Telford, Uttoxeter, and Stone.
