Genomics England partners with the NHS to provide whole genome sequencing diagnostics, supporting research and patient care. Our goal is to refine and scale genomic healthcare and research, collaborating with patients, clinicians, scientists, and industry.

Job Description

We seek a passionate Principal SRE to lead and enhance our SRE capabilities, fostering best practices in system reliability across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assess current human and technical processes for reliability.
  2. Develop a roadmap to improve service maturity using SRE principles.
  3. Lead and grow a team of SREs to implement initiatives.
  4. Collaborate with stakeholders to embed SRE practices.
  5. Stay updated on emerging technology trends.
  6. Contribute to industry discussions and organizational growth.
Qualifications

We value real-world experience over formal qualifications. Essential skills include:

  • Deep understanding of SRE principles and practices.
  • Strong software engineering skills (preferably Python).
  • Experience in platform engineering, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, monitoring, and cloud services (AWS preferred).
  • Leadership and team management capabilities.

Desirable skills include healthcare or bioinformatics background, and experience in regulated environments.

Additional Details

Salary: £103,500
