Job Description:

We are looking to strengthen our engineering team with a Principal Mechanical Engineer based at Preston, with hybrid working available and an expectation to attend sites regularly.

You will report directly to the RDL, providing high-quality engineering design services to minimize risks and maximize profits on turnkey and engineering services contracts. The role involves coordinating design efforts, producing design documents and drawings, and ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements, specifications, and standards.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Producing cost-effective design layouts that meet specifications and can be effectively constructed and commissioned, considering all associated costs including design, materials, erection, and impacts on other disciplines.
  • Utilizing standard practices wherever possible.
  • Providing estimates and feedback to the Proposals department.
  • Following procedures and processes to develop and improve the department.
  • Monitoring and reviewing procedures and processes.
  • Writing, updating, and monitoring efficient procedures for departmental operations.
  • Coordinating designs with all disciplines to ensure integrated contract execution.
  • Maintaining files and records throughout contract durations.
  • Ensuring customer satisfaction by delivering quality work and fostering a customer-centric culture.
  • Assisting in supervising and developing staff.
  • Ensuring a safe working environment for all staff.
  • Minimizing waste in departmental activities.
  • Considering environmental issues in design processes.
  • Ensuring designs comply with all health and safety requirements.
