Job Title: Principal Engineer - Major Infrastructure Projects
Salary: £52,000 to £75,000 (dependent on experience) + £5,800 car allowance
Location: Hybrid - Slough, Maple Lodge, Crossness and/or Swindon
Type: Permanent, hybrid (up to 3 days/week on-site or in-office)

Our client is seeking experienced Principal Engineers to lead technical teams and help modernise major Water Treatment Works across their network. This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of UK water infrastructure through high-value capital projects, some worth up to £300 million.

About the Client:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and plan the design activities for a portfolio of infrastructure projects
  • Oversee technical assurance of contractor designs and manage design changes
  • Support project teams during asset commissioning and handover
  • Act as the main contact for CDM regulations and Principal Designer duties
  • Conduct site inspections and collaborate to improve health and safety outcomes
  • Manage and mitigate risks while adding value across project stages
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders and regulators
  • Apply commercial awareness to guide project delivery strategies

What Our Client is Looking For:

  • Degree in civil, mechanical, or related engineering discipline (Master's desirable)
  • Chartered status or working towards it
  • Experience in delivering major capital projects (ideally up to £100m)
  • Strong analytical and risk-based decision-making abilities
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proven leadership and team management background
  • Valid driving licence and access to personal transport
