We currently have multiple openings within our flood risk team due to ongoing growth with our existing and new clients. We are seeking a Principal Engineer to support our Water Engineering team across the UK, ideally based in Manchester, Leeds, Chorley, Cockermouth, or London. Other locations will be considered for the right candidate. Our team undertakes a wide variety of major infrastructure projects for both private and public sectors, focusing on integrated flood risk and drainage solutions with state-of-the-art design.
Our flood risk portfolio includes projects across the water sector, from flood alleviation schemes for local authorities, MOD, and private clients, to surface water separation schemes for water utilities. We work with high-profile housing developers from site inception through to masterplanning, design, and construction, including natural flood risk management and Sustainable Urban Drainage solutions.
As a project leader, you will guide teams and support clients in project delivery, bidding, and proposition activities, contributing to our growth. You will be responsible for leading projects involving river, coastal, and flood defence appraisal and design, hydraulic modelling, hydrology assessments, surface water management, and developing business cases. Projects range from £10k to £100m, covering flood risk for defense, transport, local government, utilities, infrastructure, commercial, industrial, and residential developments.
You will independently manage technical aspects from project inception to completion, lead low to medium risk projects, and mentor junior staff. You will work closely with clients to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget, supported by our senior technical leadership. We offer internal project management training, mentoring, CPD, and a flexible hybrid working policy, with some travel and outside normal hours expected.
