Job summary

WSP is seeking a Principal Fire Engineer to lead multiple UK projects, from universities to high-rise towers, ensuring fire safety while enabling innovative architectural design.

You will review design information, liaise with Facades, Acoustics and Structures, present designs to authorities, and guide the team toward chartered status through the IFE.

A little more about your role...

As a Principal Fire Engineer, you'll typically be working on a variety of projects at once from a University in Scotland to a high-rise residential tower in London, with plenty of international projects. All with the same goal of enabling innovative architectural design without compromising on the fire safety of the building.

You'll be running through design information, liaising with other WSP disciplines such as Facades, Acoustics and Structures, presenting designs to local authorities and the Fire Service, and helping to inform the design team about what changes could be made to increase the safety of the building.

Naturally, there is a lot to learn and you are likely to be guided through a variation of software packages, fire standards, team briefings and client updates from the start but we're a nice bunch and we regularly get together for social events.

In addition to the above day to day role, we will assist the successful candidate toward his/her professional registration via IFE and other professional organisations.

The programme is supported by our senior leadership team and is tailored give you the support, guidance and the development opportunities you need to help you work towards chartered statusor equivalent professional qualifications. What we will be looking for you to demonstrate...

You will have a BSc (BEng) or MSc (MEng) in Fire, Structural, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent.

Must have experience within the fire engineering consulting industry
