Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Fire Engineer to work on diverse UK projects, from universities to high-rise towers, ensuring fire safety while maintaining design integrity.

You will collaborate with Facades, Acoustics and Structures, present to local authorities and the Fire Service, and contribute to the development programme that supports chartership. This role is based in the UK with hybrid working.

Qualifications

• Must have experience within the fire engineering consulting industry.

Responsibilities

• Lead design information reviews and liaise with Facades, Acoustics and Structures teams.
• Present designs to local authorities and the Fire Service.
• Advise project teams on changes to improve fire safety.
• Participate in training on technical report writing, project management, and communications.
• Support towards professional registration (IFE and other bodies).

A little more about your role…

As a Senior Fire Engineer, you’ll typically be working on a variety of projects at once from a University in Scotland to a high‑rise residential tower in London, with plenty of international projects. All with the same goal of enabling innovative architectural design without compromising on the fire safety of the building.

You’ll be running through design information, liaising with other WSP disciplines such as Facades, Acoustics and Structures, presenting designs to local authorities and the Fire Service, and helping to inform the design team about what changes could be made to increase the safety of the building.

Naturally, there is a lot to learn and you are likely to be guided through a variation of software packages, fire standards, team briefings and client updates from the start but we’re a nice bunch and we regularly get together for social events.

In addition to the above day to day role, we will assist the successful candidate toward his/her professional registration via IFE and other professional organisations.

The programme is supported by our senior leadership team and is tailored give you the support, guidance and the development opportunities you need to help you work towards chartered statusor equivalent professional qualifications. What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…

You will have a BSc (BEng) or MSc (MEng) in Fire, Structural, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent.

Must have experience within the fire engineering consulting industry

This role can be based from any of our UK major offices.
