We are looking to strengthen our engineering team with a Principal EICA Engineer based at Preston, with hybrid working available.
You will report directly to the RDL, providing high-quality engineering design services to minimize risks and maximize profits on turnkey and engineering services contracts. The role involves coordinating design efforts, producing design documents and drawings, and ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements, specifications, and standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Producing cost-effective design layouts that meet specifications and can be constructed and commissioned efficiently, considering all associated costs including design, materials, erection, and impacts on other disciplines.
- Utilizing standard practices wherever possible.
- Maintaining competitiveness.
- Providing estimates and feedback to the Proposals department.
- Adhering to and developing departmental procedures and processes.
- Monitoring and reviewing procedures to ensure continuous improvement.
- Writing, updating, and implementing procedures to facilitate smooth departmental operations.
- Coordinating designs with all internal and external disciplines to optimize overall project outcomes.
- Maintaining project files and records.
- Ensuring customer satisfaction by prioritizing client needs and feedback.
- Developing a personal development plan.
- Supervising and developing staff members.

Essential qualifications and skills:
- Strong understanding of water and sewage treatment principles.
- Experience managing staff in relevant discipline design aspects.
- Membership of a professional institution or chartered status.
- Relevant engineering degree.
- Ability to rationalize designs and produce economical plant layouts.
- Good knowledge of water treatment aspects, including mechanical, process, electrical engineering, and project management.
- Flexible mindset capable of handling large amounts of data.
- Ability to present technical proposals clearly and confidently.
- Computer literacy.
- Driving license.
