You will also be involved in shaping the way National Highways in the South-west innovates geotechnical asset management as well as interfacing with our Safety, Engineering, and Standards (SES) colleagues to ensure compliance with standards and scheme approval governance (DMRB & MCHW), whilst also influencing the continual improvement of standards.

  • Provide specialist technical expertise and assurance in the identification of risks and the development of early solutions for renewals and improvement schemes, in line with agreed methodologies, prioritisation criteria, optioneering and considering new techniques, materials, buildability, and costs.
  • Development of asset specific management plans and ensure asset management decisions adhere to defined policies and standards, provide value for money, and maximise contribution to the delivery of business objectives.
  • Identify, prioritise and manage asset need in accordance with required governance (DMRB: CS641 and CD622) and to achieve business objectives
  • Identify, commission and oversee survey works in line with National Highways processes to support the improvement and/or renewal of assets; to check and approve technical briefs, reports, specifications, drawings and supporting information.
  • Continuously monitor and analyse asset data, to champion asset data quality through innovation, integrity and adherence to data standards and guidelines, and provide coaching and guidance to regional colleagues involved in data entry and maintenance.

About you.

  • You will be a Chartered Member of the GeolSoc, ICE, or equivalent, or have at least ten years relevant and demonstratable experience in ground engineering and infrastructure works.
  • Expert knowledge of the management of Geotechnical Risk.
  • Demonstratable knowledge of DMRB and its application to Geotechnical Assets on the SRN.
