Job summary

Pektron is seeking a Principal / Senior Embedded Software Engineer to own low-level, high-reliability firmware for rugged control systems and electronic products. The role emphasizes mastery of C and Bluetooth/BLE in demanding environments, with leadership across multi-project execution.

Join Pektron to drive architecture, mentor engineers, and work with international customers on challenging embedded platforms. Location: Derby area, full-time, permanent. UK-based travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Mastery of C language for embedded systems
• Experience with Bluetooth/BLE protocols and wireless stacks
• Hardware interfacing and writing low-level drivers
• Strong debugging, fault diagnosis, and analytical skills
• High proficiency in English for technical documentation
• Experience with CAN, LIN, Ethernet tools is advantageous

Responsibilities

• Shape the technical direction for the software department
• Lead architecture, system design and delivery of multiple product lines
• Mentor junior engineers and identify training needs
• Uncover new commercial opportunities and contribute to roadmaps
• Diagnose complex engineering failures and implement permanent solutions
• Oversee resources and day-to-day tasks across projects
• Own technical execution and architecture for major product projects
• Serve as primary technical contact for international and domestic customers
• Support proposals and scope variations for customers
• Provide guidance and feedback to team members
• Travel to support key international clients as needed
