Job summary

Platform Recruitment in Cambridge is seeking a Principal Electronics & Software Engineer to join an experienced, multidisciplinary R&D team. The role focuses on advanced problems across analogue/digital hardware and embedded software, with opportunities to mentor junior engineers.

You will design and implement systems for deep-tech applications, work with stakeholders, and contribute to product design across hardware and software domains.

Qualifications

• Degree 2:1 or above, or PhD in a relevant discipline.
• Industrial experience in at least one core area and willingness to learn the others.
• Software implementation in C, C++, Rust or similar languages.
• PCB design experience.
• Digital electronics (processors, memory, DSP, Verilog, VHDL).
• Analogue electronics (general, interfaces, RF, power).

Responsibilities

• Work as part of the R&D team on client assignments in multi-disciplinary projects.
• Design and implement systems for deep tech applications & products.
• Develop technical design skills for analogue and digital hardware, information engineering, embedded software, control, communications and whole product design.
• Interact with stakeholders, both technical & non-technical to discuss ongoing projects & requirements.

My client is developing advanced deep tech solutions and has an opportunity to join as a Principal Electronics & Software Engineer on their experienced team

Overview

You'll be joining a truly multidisciplinary team with no shortage of projects working on highly complex engineering challenges.

The role will focus on advanced R&D solving real-world problems, and involve some mentorship of top junior and undergrad engineers.

Your responsibilities

• Work as part of the R&D team on client assignments in multi-disciplinary projects
• Design and implement systems for deep tech applications & products
• Take advantage of opportunities to develop your technical design skills for analogue and digital hardware, information engineering, embedded software, control, communications and whole product design
• Interact with stakeholders, both technical & non-technical to discuss ongoing projects & requirements

About you

• An 2:1 or above degree, or PhD in a relevant discipline
• Prior industrial experience in at least one of the following areas, and enthusiasm for learning about the others:
• Software implementation in C, C++, Rust, or a similar programming language
• PCB design
• Digital electronics (processors, memory, DSP, Verilog, VHDL)
• Analogue electronics (general, interfaces, RF, power)
