Position – Principal Electrical Services Engineer
Location – Plymouth
Travel

2/3 days in Devonport or Bristol Office

Arrangement

Contracted (Inside IR35) or Staff.

NUVIA UK's Technical Services & Consulting department is rapidly growing, offering hybrid opportunities across the country. We aim to build a multidisciplinary team to provide our clients with a broad spectrum of talent.

BPSS clearance at basic level is required. Previous clearance will not be transferable.

Supporting a key client, we seek Principal Electrical Service Engineers for the Dock readiness Projects at a nuclear licensed site. Responsibilities include managing a small team, overseeing design work, and reviewing designs to ensure proper, adequate, and efficient implementation across the project.

Responsibilities of a Principal Electrical Engineer
  • Preparing and reviewing designs, analyzing reports, drawings, and specifications.
  • Participating in problem-solving of technical solutions, deficiencies, and new design ideas.
  • Applying Earned Value Management methodologies and respecting task durations.
  • Supervising and mentoring junior staff.
  • Maintaining development records to demonstrate skills progression.
  • Communicating system capabilities to ensure high standards in overall operation concepts.
  • Supporting development, construction, installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of facilities to meet design intent and comply with relevant regulations and legislation.
Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should meet most of the following criteria:

Essential Requirements
  • Degree or HND in an appropriate engineering discipline.
  • Nuclear Introductory Course or equivalent knowledge in nuclear/marine systems.
  • Understanding of company and departmental health and safety procedures.
  • Experience in complex design development throughout the design lifecycle.
  • Ability to advise subcontractors on design development.
  • Strong project specification, planning, management, and budgeting skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant engineering software and applications.
Desirable
  • Chartered engineer or working towards chartership with the Engineering Council.
  • Experience in designing electrical building services, including fire detection, alarm systems, industrial and emergency lighting, and HVAC.
  • Good understanding of engineering design and safety practices.
