Wood is currently looking for a Principal Electrical Engineer to join our System Integration (SI) team within our Digital Consulting business supporting a key UK project within Aberdeenshire.

This is a hybrid role that can be based at any of the following UK offices: Aberdeen, Staines, Reading or Glasgow with the expectation of travel to site as required.

Applicants must be able to pass HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check.

The Role

The Principal Electrical Engineer will act as the project lead, coordinating a team of engineers to ensure the successful delivery in line with project specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements.

This role involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, clients, contractors, and suppliers to ensure technical compliance and alignment with project goals, while managing budgets, schedules, and risk. Strong communication and reporting skills are essential, with regular engagement and alignment with project and senior management to ensure transparency, progress tracking, and strategic decision-making.

Drawing on extensive industry experience, the Principal Electrical Engineer will provide expert guidance and technical assurance throughout the project lifecycle.

Expected:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering with good experience of Electrical System Design in Refinery / Petrochemical / Chemical/ Power / Pharmaceutical Plant Projects
  • Proven experience of leading a team of junior engineers
  • Knowledge of electrical power systems, international codes & standards and Industry accepted electrical engineering software
  • Possess good interpersonal skills with good written and spoken in English
  • Flexible approach and able to work under pressure with a can-do attitude and a desire to succeed
  • Experience of Vendor co-ordination meetings and supporting engineering design reviews
  • Flexible attitude with proven experience of effective working in a project team environment
  • Computer literate with common software packages such as Microsoft Office
  • Previous experience of VSD upgrades an advantage
