Watch this short clip to discover how Arup are shaping a better world and how you could be a part of it!

The Opportunity

We have an opportunity for a Senior Electrical Engineer who is looking for technically challenging work on cutting-edge projects, to become a permanent member of our friendly and creative Building Engineering Team in London.

You will work on some of the most exciting and innovative buildings in the UK and internationally, often with top tier architects and clients. The team are currently involved with over 100 projects worldwide from concept design through to completion.

Our projects need to be part of the transition to net-zero carbon and increasingly we see electrical engineering sitting at the heart of how that transition can be achieved. We are looking for people who can understand the magnitude of the challenge and rise to it, bringing with them a sense of inquisitiveness and an enthusiasm to challenge the status quo.

Our current and recent project portfolio includes:
  • decarbonisation projects & net zero strategies: various clients & building portfolios
  • technical HV electrical infrastructure studies: locations of strategic national significance
  • residential and social infrastructure projects: Ebury Bridge Estate and East Village;
  • rail building projects: Euston Station, Bond Street Station and HS2;
  • airport projects: Heathrow, Mumbai and a couple of others we can't discuss yet;
  • commercial developments: 8 Bishopsgate; 90 Long Acre; 70 Gracechurch Street
  • culture and mixed use projects: UCL East Marshgate, The Royal Opera House and Selfridges Department Store.

The role will see you:
  • Being responsible for the production of the electrical and MEP designs on your projects and as such being accountable both to project leaders and the electrical discipline within the business.
  • Preparing and co-ordinating electrical reports and specifications.
  • Undertaking comprehensive technical review of submittals from contractors.
  • Providing technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced members of the team.
  • Designing, developing and producing high quality and considered electrical design for your projects, involving sketches (both electronic and hand drawn), calculation plans, technical studies and models, drawings, reports and specifications.

At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas.

You will have the opportunity do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.

Is this role right for you?

We’re looking for a candidate who:
  • Is professionally registered with a relevant engineering institution.
  • Has knowledge and interest in sustainable building design in terms of both energy and carbon, and satisfying associated regulatory and voluntary codes.
  • Has detailed knowledge of relevant British Standards (including BS 7671, BS 7430, BS 5839, BS 9999, BS5839)
  • Possesses excellent technical aptitude and experience in a range of electrical service design software.
