Job summary

Ramboll Group in London seeks a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead core MEP disciplines on major projects and mentor junior engineers. You will manage own projects, execute detailed designs to high standards, and maintain exceptional client service.

The ideal candidate is chartered, with a track record on complex building schemes, and adept at working in multidisciplinary teams across Buildings, Transport and Energy sectors.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree from a CIBSE/IET/IMechE accredited body or HNC in an applicable discipline with commitment to higher education.
  • Progress toward IEng or CEng status.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision on technical aspects.
  • Strong confidence to build client relationships internally and externally.
  • Excellent communication and ability to simplify complex concepts.
  • Interest in or experience with digital/parametric design tools.

Responsibilities

  • Take a key role representing Ramboll on MEP projects, leading your own discipline and managing engineers of a complementary discipline.
  • Work with initiative on technical aspects of your discipline with minimal supervision.
  • Complete detailed designs and supervise the work of others.
  • Inspire confidence to strengthen client relationships.
  • Manage time on projects to meet deadlines.
  • Coordinate tasks and allocate resources when acting as project manager.

You will join our multi-disciplinary London Buildings Engineering design team
Our London Buildings Engineering design team works across a global portfolio of major complex projects encompassing sectors such as Aviation, Commercial, Data Centres and Rail. As a [Senior Engineer/ Principal Engineer] you will be a key member of our multi-disciplinary (Building Services, Structures, Project/Design Managers, Critical Systems) Engineering team. You will collaborate with other engineering disciplines and also be responsible for mentoring and developing the careers of junior engineering team members.

The ideal candidate is a Chartered Engineer with a demonstrable record of delivery on major, complex building projects; and is highly effective when working in a multidisciplinary design environment.

Your new role

As our new Principal Electrical Engineer, you will be working as part of a team, you will be expected to manage your own project work, undertake detailed design to the required standards and to maintain excellent levels of client service.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • To take a key role representing Ramboll on MEP projects leading your own discipline and (for suitably sized projects) also managing engineers of a complimentary discipline
  • Able to work using their own initiative with minimal supervision on all technical aspects of their discipline or have specific specialist experience applicable to the role
  • Complete detailed designs and supervise the work of others in this function
  • Have an ability to inspire confidence both internally and externally, and then use this to strengthen client relationships
  • Manage time on projects to suit deadlines and complete their assigned tasks
  • Where they are the Ramboll project manager, co-ordinate the tasks so all deadlines are met and allocate resource appropriately
