Blackmount Recruitment Ltd is supporting a well-established building services consultancy in London to recruit a Principal Electrical Engineer for senior design leadership across residential and mixed-use schemes.

The role is predominantly remote with minimal monthly site visits, offering strategic input from feasibility to handover and mentoring of junior engineers while managing client relationships and technical standards.

Qualifications

• Senior experience as Principal/Associate Electrical Engineer in building services.
• Strong residential/new-build experience including high-rise and mixed-use schemes.
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and managing senior client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design delivery for complex residential and mixed-use developments.
• Act as principal technical authority for LV distribution, lighting, small power, containment, emergency lighting and life-safety systems.
• Provide strategic input from feasibility and concept design through detailed design, construction and handover.
• Lead client, architect and consultant relationships, representing the electrical discipline at senior design meetings.
• Coordinate designs to be technically robust, commercially aware and delivered to programme.
• Oversee resources, fees, QA and delivery across multiple schemes.
• Mentor and develop Senior/Intermediate/Graduate Electrical Engineers.
• Support business development and growth of the MEP team.

We are recruiting a Principal Electrical Engineer to join a well-established building services consultancy delivering high-quality MEP design across London and the South East.

This is a senior opportunity for an experienced electrical design professional to lead complex new-build residential developments, including apartment-led, high-rise and mixed-use schemes. You will combine technical authority, client leadership and team development, helping to shape the continued growth of the electrical discipline.

The role is primarily remote, with only minimal travel required to site and the office each month.

The role:

• Lead the electrical design delivery of complex new-build residential and mixed-use developments
• Act as the principal technical authority for LV distribution, lighting, small power, containment, emergency lighting and life-safety systems
• Provide strategic input from feasibility and concept design through detailed design, construction and handover support
• Lead client, architect and consultant relationships, representing the electrical discipline at senior design meetings
• Ensure designs are coordinated, technically robust, commercially aware and delivered to programme
• Oversee electrical project resources, fees, quality assurance and delivery across multiple schemes
• Mentor and develop Senior, Intermediate and Graduate Electrical Engineers
• Support business development, bids and the growth of the wider MEP team where required

What we are looking for:

• Proven experience as a Principal, Associate or highly experienced Senior Electrical Engineer within building services
• Strong new-build residential experience is essential, ideally including high-rise, apartment-led and large-scale schemes
• Mixed-use project experience would be highly advantageous
• Strong technical knowledge across electrical building services design and relevant regulations
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary design teams and managing senior client relationships
• Good working knowledge of Revit/BIM and electrical design software
• Commercially aware, with the confidence to lead projects and develop people
• Chartered status, or working towards it, would be advantageous but is not essential
