Job summary

Advance Training & Recruitment Services seeks a Principal Electrical Design Engineer (Water) in Croydon. Hybrid work arrangement with a focus on leading electrical design for major water and wastewater projects across the UK.

You will act as discipline lead, mentor engineers, and ensure designs meet client requirements, standards, and quality expectations while coordinating with clients and contractors for successful AMP programme delivery.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Chartered, Incorporated or progressing towards accreditation.
• Extensive electrical design experience in water sector in the UK.

Principal Electrical Design Engineer – Water

Location: Croydon (Hybrid)
Salary: Up to £65,000 + Benefits

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Principal Electrical Design Engineer to join a leading engineering consultancy delivering major water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the UK.

This is a senior technical role where you’ll lead electrical design on complex multidisciplinary projects, provide technical leadership to engineers, and work closely with clients and contractors to deliver high-quality engineering solutions across AMP programmes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design and technical delivery of water and wastewater projects.
• Act as the discipline lead, ensuring designs meet client requirements, industry standards and quality expectations.
• Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary design teams.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
• Review and approve designs, calculations and technical documentation.
• Build strong relationships with clients and key project stakeholders.
• Champion health & safety, sustainability and best engineering practice throughout project delivery.

About You

• Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
• Chartered, Incorporated or actively working towards professional accreditation.
• Extensive electrical design experience within the UK water sector.
• Strong knowledge of BS7671, CAD/Revit and BIM methodologies.
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary design projects and mentoring engineers.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
