Job summary

Penguin Recruitment Ltd in Leeds is seeking a Principal EIA Consultant to lead environmental impact assessments on major infrastructure and development projects across the UK. You will coordinate inputs, work with specialists and drive projects from strategy and feasibility through to design and consenting.

You will prepare EIA documentation, liaise with clients and stakeholders, support fee proposals and mentor junior team members while ensuring high-quality environmental advice for diverse

Qualifications

• Degree-level qualification in EIA, environmental management, planning or related discipline.
• Strong understanding of UK EIA processes and legislation.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary EIAs.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills.
• Strong project management and stakeholder engagement experience.
• Experience managing budgets and coordinating project deliverables.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Full right to work in the UK.
• Living in Leeds or with a reasonable commute to the Leeds office.

Are you an experienced Principal EIA Consultant looking for a role where your expertise can genuinely influence major development projects?

My client is a well-established independent environmental consultancy with over 30 years of experience delivering high-quality environmental advice across the UK and internationally. With a strong reputation for technical excellence, collaboration and meaningful environmental work, they are continuing to grow their EIA team.

As a Principal EIA Consultant, you will work across major infrastructure and development projects, including transport, renewable energy and property. You will coordinate environmental inputs, work closely with technical specialists and design teams, and help shape projects from early strategy and feasibility through to detailed design and consenting.

The EIA Consultant will also have the opportunity to work across different consenting regimes, prepare EIA documentation and Environmental Statements, liaise with clients and stakeholders, support fee proposals and play an active role in developing junior team members.

• Relevant degree-level qualification in EIA, environmental management, planning or a related discipline
• Strong understanding of UK EIA processes and legislation
• Significant experience leading complex, multidisciplinary EIAs
• Excellent report writing and communication skills
• Strong project management and stakeholder engagement experience
• Experience managing budgets and coordinating project deliverables
• Full UK driving licence
