Job description

Stirling Council’s Schools, Learning and Education Service seeks to appoint a motivated and dynamic individual to the permanent post of Principal Educational Psychologist. This is a significant role within the Children’s Service, with the post-holder being responsible for the strategic leadership and management of the Educational Psychology Service, Parent and Family Support team and for a wide range of service-delivery and strategic activities.

As Principal Educational Psychologist, you will work closely with colleagues and key partners to effectively lead, manage, develop and promote the Educational Psychology service, and Parent and Family Support team, on behalf of the Schools, Learning and Education Service and Children’s Services. Strategic responsibility includes improving children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing, nurturing approaches, care experienced young people, promoting inclusion and equalities, and children’s rights. The post requires strong leadership, management skills and excellent communication skills. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated person who is values led and is determined to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people.

The Principal Educational Psychologist is part of the extended senior leadership team within the Schools, Learning and Education Service and the Educational Psychology service sits within the Inclusion and Early Years team.

Minimum Requirements: Registration with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) is required. Applications are invited from suitably qualified educational psychologists. Further information about the post is available in the job description.

The Service is located in Stirling, which is a beautiful city in Scotland's central belt with excellent commuter links.
