An exciting opportunity awaits you to become part of one of the North West's leading forward-thinking organizations. Due to recent promotions, we are actively seeking a Principal Economics Officer to join our dynamic team.

The role of the Principal Economics Officer involves spearheading and overseeing the implementation of the research strategy, with a specific emphasis on the economic research program.

Collaborating closely with the Head of Strategy, Policy, and Research, you will ensure that policies and strategies are informed by solid evidence and are supported by robust and transparent analytical outputs.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, leading, and managing the research program. This includes overseeing specialist researchers and working closely with colleagues in strategy and policy to maintain and strengthen our regional evidence base in support of our objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and apply a range of future economic scenarios, evidence, and analysis tools to support strategy and scheme development.
  • Support the Head of Strategy, Policy, and Research to deliver a consistent and effective research programme.
  • Act as technical expert for economic research/analysis providing advice and expertise internally and externally.
  • Lead, coach, mentor and formally develop professional colleagues, providing expert guidance and knowledge on a regular basis.
  • Lead research and development within a particular specialist technical area, co-ordinating the inputs of other colleagues.
  • Identify customer/stakeholder/partner needs, link to technical function offerings, and translate into the development of technical design solutions.
  • Undertake and oversee the delivery of strategic analysis from multiple data sources, identifying key themes and requirements.
