If promoting sustainable practice is something you're passionate about, and you're an experienced ecologist keen to actively support biodiversity, then this latest Principal Ecology Consultant role could be the role for you. Our client is an award-winning environmental consultancy whose ultimate aims are to develop climate resilience and work towards supporting net-zero aims through innovative collaboration and specialist knowledge. As a Principal Ecology Consultant on the team, you'll be at the forefront of supporting these goals, using your experience and knowledge within the Ecological sector to deliver on projects which seek to improve biodiversity, whilst also providing a high-quality service. Our client is looking for an appropriate candidate based in either Manchester, Sheffield or Leeds, with the client having offices located in both Manchester and Sheffield to work out of on a hybrid basis.

Responsibility:

As the new Principal Ecological Consultant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead on a variety of ecology and biodiversity projects.
  • Handle multiple projects at a time, including managing timelines and budgets.
  • Conducting a range of assessments, including PEAs, BNG and BREEAM ecology reports.
  • Producing EcIAs and HRAs and leading on UKHabs and bat surveys in the field.
  • Acting as a mentor and point of support for junior members of the team.
  • Assist with business development to win new work for the client and develop and maintain new and existing relationships with both clients and stakeholders.

Requirements:

To be considered for this Principal Ecology Consultant role, you will ideally meet as much of the following as possible:

  • Strong experience with the production and review of a variety of surveys, assessments and reports.
  • Strong botany skills, preferably holding a FISC level 4 certification.
  • Proficiency with PEAs, BNG assessments, BREEAM ecology credit reports, Bat surveys & identification and QGIS.
  • Able to carry out EcIAs and HRAs independently for medium to large scale complex projects.
  • Be in possession of protected species licenses, particularly a level 2 Bat license is highly desirable.
  • Full CIEEM membership, Chartered status also being highly desirable.
