Job Title: Principal Designer

Our client, a well-established and growing specialist and multi-disciplined surveying consultancy, is looking for a Principal Designer to join their team on a hybrid/remote basis in Cambridge.

The Principal Designer will be a key team member, acting as the main contact between clients, designers, and contractors regarding health and safety issues. They will ensure health and safety compliance and that CDM regulations are met to support the delivery of new build and refurbishment education projects.

Responsibilities
  1. Liaise and communicate with clients, contractors, Building Surveyors, architects, and others to provide advice on CDM/health and safety issues.
  2. Assist in preparing health and safety/CDM documentation for contractors, clients, and others such as Health and Safety Files.
  3. Collaborate with colleagues and keep them informed of project issues at all times.
  4. Attend pre-contract and other site meetings; conduct independent H&S site audits/inspections.
  5. Gather and organize information to ensure project compliance with Health and Safety guidelines.
Minimum Requirements
  • 3-4 years' experience in a similar role.
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent/higher.
  • Relevant HNC, HND, BSc, or MSc (or equivalent) in a construction-related field.
  • Good knowledge of applicable legislation.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Living within commuting distance of Cambridge.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
