Job Description:

Wood is currently recruiting for contract Senior and Principal Technical Safety Engineers to provide services to our Technical HSE Team based in Reading.

You will be working alongside the Design HSE Group, within the Engineering Department, and will liaise with the Group Manager Design HSE. The department sits within the New Energies business of Wood.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical safety expertise in design projects.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safety standards are met.
  • Participating in hazard identification, risk assessments, and safety reviews.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Degree in an Engineering discipline, preferably Chemical or Process Engineering.
  • Membership of a recognised professional institution (. Chartered Engineer).
  • Technical competence in core Design Safety subject areas, notably; Hazard identification, Consequence Modelling, Risk Assessment, Working knowledge of applicable international standards.
  • Experience in the application of Design Safety within a design environment likely to include Oil & Gas, Petrochemical and Refining, LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas), Carbon Capture/ Hydrogen Production.
  • Analytical and conceptual thinking skills, ability to manage own work and the work of others, plus a strong customer focus and team-working skills.
  • Ability to work to agreed delivery dates while collaborating with others in multifunctional teams.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience of working in the process industry and energy, oil and gas, refining and petrochemical sectors.
  • Leadership skills and experience.
