Job summary

GKN Aerospace in Luton is seeking a Principal Design Engineer to lead the Transparencies team, driving design excellence across fast jet canopies, flight deck windows and related programmes. You will shape technical strategy, mentor teams, manage requirements and ensure regulatory compliance on a global scale.

You will influence technology roadmaps, collaborate with customers and suppliers, and travel as needed while operating within a structured, safety-focused environment at the Luton site.

Qualifications

• Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical or similar.
• Experience in aerospace design or product development.
• Strong communication and leadership capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Act as technical authority for transparency design across programmes.
• Lead design standards and engineering best practices for transparency systems.
• Interact with customers, regulators and suppliers on technical matters.
• Lead technical reviews and gate reviews with high-quality data.
