Principal Design & Construction Manager - (RICS license is required)

Location: Field Based role across England, company car provided
Contract: Full Time, Permanent position

Are you a seasoned leader in property project management with a passion for transforming healthcare environments? Do you thrive in complex design and construction programmes, particularly in mechanical and electrical fit-outs and hospital refurbishments?

We’re looking for a Principal Design & Construction Manager to lead the delivery of high-impact capital projects across BGUK’s corporate, shared services, and health services portfolios. This includes hospital acquisitions, diagnostic centre refurbishments, and revitalisation of aged buildings—ensuring every space meets the highest standards of safety, sustainability, and customer experience.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Lead end-to-end design and construction of major capital works.
  • Client-side project teams for major hospital redevelopments & diagnostic clinic developments.
  • Manage all legal matters associated with the delivery of the projects under contract.
  • Lead a strategic capital plan programme
  • Drive excellence in project planning, design, and implementation, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to specification.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners (architects, surveyors, contractors) to shape future-ready workspaces.
  • Ensure compliance with Construction Design and Management Regulations, sustainability frameworks, and safety standards.
  • Champion innovation in building design, technology, and sustainability across the property portfolio.
What We’re Looking For
  • Proven experience in design and delivery of mechanical and electrical fit outs, ideally within healthcare or complex environments.
  • Strong track record in large acquisitions and refurbishment of aged buildings.
  • 10+ years in property project management within a major corporate or healthcare setting.
  • Degree in Project Management, Quantity Surveying, or related field; RICS or equivalent chartership.
  • Expertise in contract negotiation, stakeholder engagement, and risk management.
  • Familiarity with BREEAM, WELL, LEED certifications and BIM/CAD tools is a plus.
