Job Description Summary
Role: As Principal Data Manager, you will hold a combined technical and leadership position within our global data management department. You will lead data management projects, support resource management and deployment, and collaborate with the Director of Data Management to maintain effective departments across various locations, focused on delivering high-quality data management outputs and customer care. This role is home-based in the EU, UK, or USA.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and drive the Data Management team on assigned projects, mentoring and coaching team members, and prioritizing work.
- Act as the main contact for the Sponsor and project data management responsibilities, developing data collection specifications from all sources.
- Manage data flow activities and ensure a quality database aligned with the project plan.
- Ensure data management tasks for studies are completed on time and within budget.
- Recommend process improvements and new standards development.
- Contribute to strategic planning within the department.
- Bridge scientific or medical knowledge with data management processes to ensure appropriate data collection tools, validations, and integration for clinical datasets.
- Analyze data capture issues and develop high-quality solutions.
- Provide consultancy on all aspects of Data Management to other groups outside of Clinical Data Management (CDM).
- Train and educate staff on data collection tools and query management processes.
- Contribute to formal training for new team members.
- Recommend process improvements and develop new standards.
- Manage relationships with vendors and clients to meet expectations and achieve results.
- Represent Data Management in meetings such as Investigator's Meetings and Kick-Off Meetings.
- Lead data management activities for complex client and internal projects.
- Support the maintenance of an effective data management department.
- Design Case Record Forms (CRFs) and oversee the CRF approval process.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in life sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, biology, or related field.
- Minimum of 6 years' experience in data management within the pharmaceutical or CRO environment (preferred).
- Expertise in one or more DM systems or processes and recognized proficiency.
