Purpose

Leads the design, build, and maintenance of scalable data pipelines and infrastructure, ensuring data quality and accessibility. Applies data engineering techniques to support data analytics and data science teams by providing reliable data systems and optimising data workflows.

Accountabilities
  1. Design, develop, and maintain scalable and secure data pipelines
  2. Implement best practices for data integration and ETL/ELT
  3. Collaborate with data analysts and scientists to meet their data needs
  4. Optimise the performance and reliability of data systems
  5. Lead technical projects related to data infrastructure
  6. Provide thought leadership through data engineering expertise and act as an SME for the team
  7. Own relationships with suppliers in this ecosystem and peers in the industry
Knowledge & Experience
  1. Substantial experience in data engineering or a related field
  2. Solid understanding of information/data modelling approaches
  3. Strong knowledge of data architecture, database systems, and data warehousing concepts
  4. Experience working with data engineering tools, cloud platforms, and large-scale data platforms
  5. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with both business and technical colleagues
  6. Familiarity with agile methodologies and iterative development approaches in data engineering
